Balm Beach Road Servicing Project

Balm Beach Road is a commercial corridor in Midland’s west end that connects to Highway 93 and Yonge Street. To promote development in Midland, the Town is adding infrastructure along Balm Beach Road from Sundowner Road East to Sundowner Road West. WSP Engineering has been retained by the Town to complete the detailed design, contract administration and construction inspections.
The project will include:
- Placing approximately 900m of sanitary sewer main and service laterals to the property line by directional drilling;
- Placing approximately 900m of watermain and service laterals to property line by directional drilling;
- Adding approximately 820m of sidewalk along the north side of Balm Beach Road connecting to Highway 93; and
- The work will also include restoration of all disturbed areas, driveway aprons and all surface elements within the boulevard.
The Town has tendered and awarded the Contract to B&J Contracting, who are scheduled to mobilize and commence work during May 2022. Construction is expected to be complete by September 2022. Balm Beach Road West Bound Lane will remain closed during the duration of the project and a detour will be in place on Sundowner Road. The East Bound Lane will remain open during the project. Regular traffic during construction may be subject to traffic control at certain times during the project. Driveway access will be maintained to the extent possible. If vehicular access is restricted for more than 24 hours, the contractor will provide notification at least 24 hours in advance. If you require wheelchair access, home care visits etc. please contact the Site Inspector or Project Manager.
