Looking south along Seventh Street.

Seventh Street is a residential street located North of Yonge Street, one of Midland's East-West arterial roads. Due to the underground infrastructure deteriorating the Town is undergoing a full reconstruction on Seventh Street between Yonge Street and Hugel Avenue. Tatham Engineering has been retained to complete the detailed designed work required for this project.

The reconstruction will include:

  • Replacement of sanitary sewer, including individual laterals to the property line
  • Replacement of watermain including individual service laterals to the property line
  • Reconstruction of approximately 380m of roadway, including the installation of concrete curbs and concrete sidewalk within the west boulevard

The work will also include restoration of all disturbed areas, driveway aprons and all surface elements within the boulevard. The Town has tendered and awarded the Contract to Arnott Construction, who are scheduled to mobilize and commence work starting May 2022. Construction is expected to be complete by September 2022.

Seventh Street will be closed throughout construction, open to local traffic and emergency vehicles only. Mundy's Bay Public School will have morning bus drop off on Sixth Street and afternoon pickup on Seventh Street. Due to construction traffic we encourage any parent pickup/drop off to use Fifth Street and Eighth Street, as Sixth Street will be very busy during the weeks school is in before summer.

Driveway access for local traffic will be maintained to the extent possible. If vehicular access is restricted for more than 24 hours, the contractor will provide notification at least 24 hours in advance.

If you require wheelchair access, home care visits etc. please contact the Site Inspector or Project Manager.

On May 23rd at 9pm, Yonge Street will be completely closed at Seventh Street for night and day work within the intersection until Friday May 27th. Please follow the signs and use the recommended detours to get around the construction. Use Eighth Street to Hugel Ave and then back onto Fifth Street to Yonge Street. We recommend using Fifth Street to get back to Yonge Street because Sixth Street has school and bus traffic during the day.
