Upon completion of the King Street Rejuvenation Project in Spring 2021, the Town of Midland will bury a time capsule to be unearthed in 2071. The Town is asking citizens for their input on what should be included in the time capsule.
Suggestions will be accepted from June to September 25, 2020. Late suggestions will not be considered.
Suggestions can be made below using the Suggest an Item tool.
Those without internet access are invited to send their suggestions via mail to:
Town of Midland Attn: Time Capsule Project 575 Dominion Ave Midland, ON L4R 1R2
When suggesting an item for the time capsule:
Consider the relevance to the history and future of Midland.
Consider the size of the item as the time capsule will not be a large vessel
Consider the archival stability of the item as it will remain buried for 50 years.
If the item is something you own and would like to donate, you may be asked to provide proof of ownership.
If the item is not something that you own and that would need to be purchased by the Town, indicate where the item is available for purchase and the cost.
If you have a photo of the item you can include it in your suggestion below by clicking the Insert Image icon (or CTRL+P).
Final selection of items for inclusion in the time capsule will be conducted by a jury of citizens in Fall 2020. If you are interested in joining this jury, please complete and submit the Application to Boards & Committees form. Jury members must have the ability to participate in online meetings, pending meeting restrictions that may be in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Town of Midland thanks everyone who participates by making suggestions for the time capsule.
